You probably already know there are several different types of jewelry. Costume, High Fashion and Fine jewelry are the main types you find at local malls, stores and sold through direct sales or home party companies. They all have their time and place, so let’s break them down.
Obviously, Costume is the lower cost version of these three, but it can be very pretty and look nice. It’s something we often buy as a quick pick-me-up or as a one-time purchase for a specific outfit. You’ll find Costume jewelry at Wal-Mart, Claires, etc. It’s built to last short-term and can be as low as a few dollars.
High Fashion Jewelry
This is primarily what I wear. It’s your middle-of-the-road price range and it’s built to last longer then costume jewelry. It’s often not made overseas as most of the Costume jewelry, so the prices will be a little higher. Prices are varying based on the store, designer or brand. Here is where you’re seeing stronger quality, durability and versatility. You will see man-made jewels like faux pearls and/or diamonds here that look like the real thing. High fashion jewelry is built to last many years.
Here is where we have our real gold, silver and platinum. This is probably what your wedding ring is made of. You have real metals with authentic jewels like diamonds, rubies and garnets. This jewelry is built to last over many, many years and decades, but can be very pricey into the hundreds and thousands of dollars.
Over the years I have worn all versions of jewelry and been satisfied based on my need. For everyday wearability and versatility I recommend High Fashion jewelry. It is also great for gift-giving. Fine jewelry is often something that comes from a spouse or family member and is considered special. Besides your wedding ring, it may not even be worn except for on special occasions.
I hope that helps you in finding the best option for you. You were born to sparkle! Comment below with what types of jewelry you enjoy most!
